Club Delisa
Though there were many popular Jazz clubs on the south side of Chicago, one Jazz club that many people went for "hot dates" and a "night out on the town" was Club Delisa located on South State Street and Garfield Ave. Club Delisa, which opened in 1934, was one of the hottest clubs on the South Side. Red Saunders and his band was in residence there as one of the house bands for the club. Saunders was know to play with Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Club Delisa closed its doors in 1958. However, it reopened in 1966 as "The Club" for a period of time.
